Awakened by a raging thunderstorm, two people realize they are the sole survivors of a wagon train massacre. One, a Cheyenne warrior, the other, a young white girl, arch enemies in the present wars over territory and land. Seeing a Thunderbird appear in the sky above them, the warrior takes it as a sign to be her protector. They cross encounter a group of white, mountain men, who promise to take her to her people, forcing the warrior to let her go with them. He gives her his amulet, a Talisman, to protect her. The poor girl soon finds that her newly found champions have nefarious intentions and there is no escape. Luckily, her protector is still nearby and senses something has gone awry.
