Brother, Can You Spare a Dime?, Give 'Em Hell Harry and Fahrenheit 9/11, together with the restored wartime records Combat Camera: The Pacific and Colors of War: Europe, document the twentieth century on screen.
Music and Pop Culture
Oil Capital Underground surveys the Tulsa punk scene from the late 1970s to the mid-1990s, Elstree 1976 revisits the making of a film landmark, and James Dean: The First American Teenager profiles the icon.
The Unexplained and the Offbeat
Chariots of the Gods, including a 50th Anniversary edition, Journey Into the Beyond and the human-interest film Harry & Snowman bring the popular-science and offbeat side of the collection.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Are these restored?
- Where a title has been restored, the scan resolution and source element are listed on its product page. Restoration is carried out from the best surviving film element, not from an existing video master.
- Are any first-time-on-disc?
- Yes. Several documentaries here are out of print elsewhere or making their disc debut through VCI. The product page notes the release history where relevant.
- What does DVD-R mean on some titles?
- DVD-R indicates a manufactured-on-demand disc. It is how smaller-audience titles from the catalogue stay permanently available rather than going out of print.
